ACT - http://www.act.org ACT is best known for our college entrance exam-- the ACT. ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides more than a hundred assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development. Each year, we serve millions of people in elementary and secondary schools, colleges, professional associations, businesses, and government agencies, nationally and internationally. Though designed to meet a wide array of needs, all ACT programs and services have one guiding purpose: helping people achieve education and workplace success.
Alliance for Quality Teaching - http://www.qualityteaching.org The Alliance for Quality Teaching is a bipartisan coalition of policymakers, stakeholders and practitioners in the state of Colorado. The Alliance believes quality teaching is the most important factor in improving student achievement and is dependent on high quality preparation, comprehensive recruitment strategies, induction and ongoing professional development. The Alliance work includes research, networking, and advocacy.
American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) - http://www.aacte.org AACTE is a national voluntary association of higher education institutions and other organizations, and is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality preparation and continuing professional development for teachers and school leaders in order to enhance PK-12 student learning.
American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) - http://www.aascu.org Members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities work to extend higher education to all citizens. By Delivering America’s Promise, these institutions fulfill the expectations of a public university by working for the public good. AASCU represents more than 400 public colleges, universities and systems of higher education throughout the United States.
American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) - http://www.abcte.org/ The American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence is committed to recruiting, certifying and supporting excellent teachers essential for achieving student success. Its Passport to Teaching program is targeted to career changers interested in becoming teachers, and its Master Teacher certification will be awarded to teachers with high levels of subject matter knowledge and student achievement.
American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC) - http://www.apqc.org An internationally recognized resource for process and performance improvement, APQC helps organizations adapt to rapidly changing environments and build better ways to work in the 21st century. APQC focuses on:
  • benchmarking and best practices,
  • knowledge management,
  • metrics & measures,
  • performance measurement and
  • professional development initiatives.
APQC’s initiative in K-12 education is called: Process Improvement & Implementation in Education. Using APQC’s award-winning methodologies and tools, school districts can identify significant cost and time savings, which can be reallocated to instruction. Their national process databank of school district data allows districts to compare themselves with others, find performance gaps, and learn about best practices to drive improvement and innovation.
American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF) - http://www.aypf.org The American Youth Policy Forum, a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional development organization based in Washington, DC, provides learning opportunities for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers working on youth and education issues at the national, state, and local levels. AYPF's goal is to enable participants to become more effective in the development, enactment, and implementation of sound policies affecting the nation's young people by providing information, insights, and networks to better understand the development of healthy and successful young people, productive workers, and participating citizens in a democratic society. AYPF does not lobby or advocate for positions on pending legislation. Rather, we believe that greater intellectual and experiential knowledge of youth issues will lead to sounder, more informed policymaking. We strive to generate a climate of constructive action by enhancing communication, understanding, and trust among youth policy professionals.
Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) - http://www.bhef.com The Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) is an organization of Fortune 500 CEOs, college and university presidents, and foundation leaders working to advance innovative solutions to our nation’s education challenges in order to enhance U.S. competitiveness. BHEF currently is pursuing two major initiatives—one focused on college/work readiness and success, and a second promoting America’s leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Center for Teaching Quality (CTQ) - http://www.teachingquality.org The Center for Teaching Quality (CTQ) improves student learning through developing teacher leadership, conducting practical research and engaging various communities. CTQ’s Teaching Quality Data Systems Roadmap, (www.teachingdata.org), is a virtual tool designed to generate and effectively use a comprehensive system of teacher, student, and school information. The Roadmap provides guidance in creating an Ideal Teaching Quality Data System, revealing how states, districts, and universities can work collaboratively to link quality data about teachers, schools, and students.
College Summit - http://www.collegesummit.org Rising college enrollment rates reveal what high schools are doing right for their students. College Summit equips low-income schools and school districts to measurably and affordably increase their college-going rate.

College Summit arms college-experienced educators with resources to increase the college-going rate of all seniors, partners with school leadership to create a community-wide college-going culture of high expectations, and provides ongoing student data and technology to allow schools to carefully manage and innovate around college application management.
Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) - http://www.3d2know.org The Consortium for School Networking is the country’s premier voice in education technology leadership with a mission to serve as the national organization for K-12 technology leaders who use technology strategically to ultimately improve teaching and learning. CoSN provides products and services to support and nurture leadership development, advocacy, coalition building, and awareness of emerging technologies. CoSN launched the Data-driven Decision Making Initiative: Vision to Know and Do, in February 2003, building upon its role in providing key K–12 school district managers with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective leadership. This initiative is a:
  • highly respected source of up-to-date, unbiased information for educators on collecting, understanding and using data effectively;
  • practical mechanism for educating school leaders about data-driven decision making and its applications in elementary and secondary education; and,
  • nationally recognized framework for sharing knowledge among educators and transferring knowledge between the educational and vendor communities.
Educational Policy Institute (EPI) - http://www.educationalpolicy.org The Educational Policy Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the expansion of quality education opportunities. With offices in Virginia Beach, Toronto, and Melbourne, EPI believes that the collection and use of quality indicators of achievement are necessary to promote the development and use of prudent public policies at the local, state, and federal levels. EPI conducts analysis of student preparation, access, and success to postsecondary education, including a biennial analysis of international university affordability.

Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy was founded at the close of Governor James B. Hunt, Jr.'s historic fourth term as governor of North Carolina to carry on his legacy as an advocate for quality education for all children. National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Certification (NCATE) - http://www.ncate.org The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is a professional accrediting body for educator preparation in the United States; its dual mission encompasses accountability and improvement. The NCATE accreditation process determines which schools, colleges, and departments of education meet demanding standards for the preparation of teachers and P-12 school administrators and specialists, so that graduates of these institutions are able to have a positive impact on P-12 student learning.
Pathways to College Network - http://www.pathwaystocollege.net The Pathways to College Network is an alliance of over 30 national organizations and funders committed to using data and research to improve college access and success outcomes for underserved students. Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) - http://www.pesc.org Established in 1997 and located in Washington, D.C., the Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) is a non-profit, community-based, umbrella association of colleges and universities; professional and commercial organizations; data, software and service providers; and state and federal government agencies. PESC’s mission is to lead the establishment and adoption of data exchange standards in education. The goals of the mission are to enable the improvement of institutional performance and foster collaboration across educational communities in order to lower costs, improve service, and attain system interoperability.
Roads to Success - http://www.roadstosuccess.org Roads to Success, founded in 2004, is a career, college and life skills readiness program for students in grades 7-12. The organization’s mission is to provide middle and high school students with the motivation, knowledge, and skills they need to achieve success as members of a community, school, and workplace. [During the 2007-2008 school year, Roads to Success is partnering with 23 public schools in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York City, serving a diverse population of 4,000 students in grades 7 through 10.]
Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) - http://www.sreb.org The Southern Regional Education Board, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, advises state education leaders on ways to improve education. SREB was created in 1948 by Southern governors and legislatures to help leaders in education and government work cooperatively to advance education and improve the social and economic life of the region. SREB has 16 member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
