- Description: With the recent emphasis on improving statewide longitudinal education data systems, there’s a surprisingly small amount of information on what states are doing right now with the data connections they already have. On December 10, 2009 from 2-3 P.M. (ET) the Data Quality Campaign will host a webinar, Data Exchange in the South: What is Working Right Now?, to report on the current state of linkages between K-12 and postsecondary data systems in the 16 states covered by the Southern Regional Education Board.
In the autumn of 2009, Dr. Alicia Diaz, Assistant Director of Education Data Systems, Southern Regional Education Board, interviewed appointed representatives from state K-12 and postsecondary education agencies on how they are currently linking data with each other and other state agencies and how they are using those data to measurably improve student and organization outcomes. The results were surprising: despite the fact that is it too early for most of the states to have a comprehensive P-20 education data system, all agencies reported some form of ongoing data exchange and many states reported measurable changes to outcomes and policies based on those data. In this webinar, Dr. Diaz will relate some of these good examples and offer analysis of trends in the states where data exchange is working right now.
