DQC Response to Fordham Center on Law and Information Policy’s Report
Date: 11/1/2009
The Fordham Center on Law and Information Policy’s report, Children’s Educational Records and Privacy: A Study of Elementary and Secondary School State Reporting Systems, released October 28, 2009, provides an impression that states are deficient in their privacy controls and that there is little value in state development and use of longitudinal data systems. The Data Quality Campaign Partners share the Fordham Center’s commitment to privacy, but unequivocally support states’ collection, storage, analysis, linking and use of longitudinal data to promote student achievement and success.
