2009 DQC Annual Survey Overview

  • Organizations: Data Quality Campaign
  • Date: 08/2009
  • Description: The Data Quality Campaign Annual Survey is designed to assess the status of current educational data systems. Results from this survey capture the progress states are making in building and expanding robust longitudinal data systems. When the DQC released the “Next Step” at the March Day of Data, we announced that the DQC survey would also measure state actions to change the culture around the usage of the growing amount of data collected by states. This decision to expand the survey has been reinforced by the recent changes requiring states to build P-20 data systems as stipulated in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and the new Race to the Top grant criteria.

The DQC believes that the Annual Survey can serve as a tool for discussion and planning for state policy leaders around the development and use of their state’s longitudinal data systems. We hope that through these discussions states will be in a better position to meet federal ARRA requirements and/or apply for federal grants.
