Data System Funding

Although many policymakers have viewed the building of a statewide longitudinal data system as a one-time expense, it is not. As with any critical infrastructure component, the longitudinal data system will require maintenance and enhancements over time. In addition, as state-of-the-art technology becomes available, it needs to be incorporated in state data systems to ensure that limited resources both money and staff time are allocated effectively.
